Filmed across Ireland & the
UK, USA, and Europe,
these series
highlight some truly innovative Irish solutions to a number of the
global problems facing mankind. As we progress into the 21st Century it
has been internationally recognised that Ireland’s
investigative researchers are punching well above their weight on the
world stage. New Decade has full access to these researchers and to the
people whose lives they hope will be dramatically changed for the
better as a result of this work. Each programme features some of the
frontline work being undertaken by these researchers.
Series I looked at developments in
the fight against Cancer, Malaria and Septic shock, disorders like ADHD
and Rheumatoid Arthritis and the significant work being carried out in
the field of Genetics in Ireland. It also focused on key issues affecting
the planet as a whole such as Climate Change and the search for viable
Renewable Energies.
Series II tackles possible cures for age related illnesses such as Osteoarthritis and Alzheimer's disease, and looks at advances in technology which are helping crop growers revolutionise agriculture and improve human health. We also follow Irish scientists fulfilling key roles in the field of Space exploration and understanding, and those at the forefront of the Sensor and Nanotechnology revolution.
